The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, designed by American architect Frank O. Gehry, is a magnificent example of the architectural avant-garde of the twentieth century. The building itself is an architectural landmark for its innovative design and a seductive backdrop for the exhibition of contemporary art.
The Bilbao Guggenheim Museum's mission is to collect, preserve and investigate the modern and contemporary art and expose it in the context of art history from multiple perspectives and led to a broad and diverse audience.
The goal is to contribute to knowledge and enjoyment of art and the values it represents, as part of an emblematic work of architecture, as a cornerstone of the Guggenheim Museum Network and serving as a symbol of the vitality of the Basque Country.
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao opened in 1997 as part of an effort to revitalize the city of Bilbao, becoming almost since its opening in a major tourist attraction to captivate the attention of visitors from many countries and is the most important contemporary symbol of the city.
The Bilbao Guggenheim Museum has a permanent collection whose presentation is done in a dynamic way so that all of its funds may be showing the public through presentations that provide different perspectives of art history.
Rates
There are different rates according to the profile of visitors: adults, students, retirees or pensioners, groups (minimum 20 people). Children under 12 who are accompanied by an adult enter free.
All those who wish to benefit from any reductions in the categories of student or retiree must submit for accreditation at the box office.
The price of admission includes an audio guide system that allows autonomous enjoy a visit to the museum, with explanations of both the architecture and exhibitions.
Museum fees are variable depending on the exhibitions. During the exhibition changes and the closure of facilities, reduced rates apply.

Visiting Hours
From Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00 h.
Closed Mondays.
July and August: Monday to Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00 h.
The Museum will be closed on 25 December and 1 January. 24 and Dec. 31 the Museum will close at 5 pm.
The ticket office closes half an hour before Museum closing. The eviction of the rooms starts 15 minutes before Museum closing.
Coming Up and park.
The Museum does not have its own parking for visitors. However, it is possible to park in municipal parking spaces in the environment (parking meter payment) or in nearby car parks of Plaza Plaza Pio Baroja or Euskadi:
Source Santander (A8) / origin Donostia-San Sebastián and Vitoria-Gasteiz (A68 and A8) from the highway that circles the city, take the entrance Bilbao Sacred Heart. At the end of the driveway (Avenida Sabino Arana) and the height of the square of the Sacred Heart are the first signs of the museum (in pink). Such signs will guide you through Abandoibarra Avenue that runs along the river that leads directly to the Museum.

To park in the parking of the Plaza Pio Baroja: Abandoibarra Avenue follow signs to parking.
To park in the parking of the Plaza Euskadi, from Abandoibarra Avenue, turn right onto the street Lehendakari Leizaola. Reach Plaza Euskadi and to enter the street parking will Ramón Rubial around the square.
